'Desperate Housewives' Marc Cherry: 'I regret parts of the show'

By
Marc Cherry has admitted that he regrets certain parts of Desperate Housewives.

The series creator told Deadline that he would change "so many things" about the ABC drama if he had the chance.

"There are certain storylines I shouldn't have done, there are certain actors I shouldn't have cast - guest stars, I mean," he said.

"There are certain flights of fancy I took that were best left on the ground. But I think most anyone who runs an hour-long TV show for any significant amount of time would say the same thing."

Cherry hinted that the rapid pace of series television did not always allow him time to make the best decisions.

"We write them very quickly. We produce them very quickly. And if at the end of the day you can say, 'Well, only a couple sucked', you know, pat yourself on the back a little bit."

The showrunner insisted that he didn't "feel comfortable" discussing his legal dispute with Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan, but added that he is "nothing but grateful" for his experiences on the show.

"People ask me if it's a bittersweet thing, and I say no, it's all sweet," he claimed. "I got to have a TV show that really was the talk of the nation for a while there. So I'm a very lucky guy."

Desperate Housewives recently came to an end, with series finale 'Finishing the Hat' pulling in 11.1m viewers.
