Emily Mortimer has revealed new details about her role in Aaron Sorkin's new HBO drama.

The Hugo star will play news producer Mackenzie McHale in the project, provisionally titled More As This Story Develops.

"[She's] supposedly charismatic - I hope I can be charismatic enough to match the character description," Mortimer told Collider.

"[She's a] crazy, demented news producer, who is fighting the system to be able to put good, worthy, balanced news on air again."

Jeff Daniels will also appear in the show as male lead Will McCallister.

"[He] plays the cantankerous, grumpy but brilliant news anchor," confirmed Mortimer. "We are in this on-again, off-again romance."

Mortimer also admitted that she has mixed feelings about working on the Sorkin project.

"It's amazing getting to say Sorkin's words, but it's also terrifying," she explained. "I've [always] got my head buried in a script, trying to learn his lines! It starts [filming] in a week and I've got more to say than I've ever had to say in anything before."

The actress joked that the new show will include the Sorkin staple of "cool chit-chat [while] walking down endless corridors".

"I'm practicing my corridor walking," she laughed.

Law & Order veteran Sam Waterston, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World star Alison Pill and Slumdog Millionaire's Dev Patel will also star in More As This Story Develops.
