Chris Elliott joins 'How I Met Your Mother'

Chris Elliott has reportedly joined the cast of How I Met Your Mother.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the 49-year-old comic has landed the role of Lily's estranged dad on the CBS comedy series.

His first episode is slated to air November 23 when Lily meets her father at a Thanksgiving celebration hosted by her grandparents.

Elliott's previous credits include Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, King Of The Hill and Everybody Loves Raymond.
