Robert Pine is to make a guest appearance on Parks and Recreation.

The CHiPs actor will play Herb, a cult leader holding an all-night vigil, convinced that the end of the world will happen in 24 hours.

Herb appears in episode 5 of the NBC comedy's upcoming fourth season, reports TV Line.

Pine is also known for his roles in films Independence Day and Red Eye. Lately, he has guest-starred on a variety of television shows including The Event, The Mentalist, Castle and The Office.

Patricia Clarkson and Paula Pell were confirmed to play Tammy 1 and Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman)'s mother respectively earlier in the summer.

Parks and Recreation star Rob Lowe, who plays Chris Traegar, recently teased that the new episodes are "even better" than last season.

The Emmy-nominated series starring Amy Poehler returns for season four on September 22.
