Amy Poehler has revealed that she is very proud of her work on Parks and Recreation.

The actress admitted that overcoming comparisons to creator Greg Daniels's previous success on The Office and her own Saturday Night Live stint was a real challenge for the sitcom.

Poehler told The New York Times: "[Some people] thought we were a spinoff of The Office. We had to prove [that] we weren't. We had to prove Leslie wasn't trying to be Michael Scott. And that this wasn't Saturday Night Live. We had to prove all that."

Poehler further revealed that she is happy critics and viewers are paying more attention to Parks and Recreation as it enters its fourth season.

"I think there is a nice dovetailing of quality of show and people liking it and network supporting it. It's all coming together rather nicely," she said.

Poehler recently said that her Parks and Recreation character Leslie Knope wrote "every single word" of her new book Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America.

Parks and Recreation star Jim O'Heir has told Digital Spy that he would love Bill Murray to guest star on the show.

Parks and Recreation continues with new episode 'Pawnee Rangers' on Thursday at 8:30/9:30c on NBC.
