Yvette Nicole Brown: 'Community is as weird, crazy as ever'

By
Yvette Nicole Brown has assured Community's loyal fans that the fourth season is as "wacky" and "weird" as ever.

Community's creative team was shaken up in May when creator Dan Harmon was fired by NBC and replaced by Happy Endings producers Moses Port and David Guarascio.

In an interview with The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Brown - who plays Shirley - stressed that the writing for the fourth season is up to par with past episodes.

"It's always hard when the person who is the heartbeat of the show isn't there anymore... I miss [Harmon's] presence on the show," Brown said.

She further commented: "We still talk to Dan, so I don't miss his presence in my life. And with Moses and David, we have show runners who have great love for the show - nice men with great heart. I think we're still wacky, crazy and weird."

Brown also revealed that she's enjoyed the new season because it allowed her to work more prominently with co-star Donald Glover.

"This has been a fun season of Community because Shirley finally gets to work with Troy, which means I get to work more with Donald Glover," she said. "I've been pushing for that."

NBC pulled Community's October 19 premiere from its schedule last week, promising to announce a new premiere date soon.
