Confirmed: T.R. Knight exits 'Grey's'

T.R. Knight has official departed Grey's Anatomy, reports Entertainment Weekly.

The show has been plagued by rumours surrounding his exit, but creator Shona Rhimes has previously insisted that the reports were false, branding the stories "ridiculous".

The season five finale saw the life of Knight's character, George, hanging in the balance alongside Katherine Hiegl's alter ego, Izzie. It has been suggested that George will not survive until next season, although neither ABC or Rhimes have confirmed the story.

It was suggested last year that the actor had asked to be released from his contract following a homophobic slur made about him on set.
