According to Entertainment Weekly, Kate Walsh, who has appeared in both medical dramas, will return to Grey's in January.
The story arc will reportedly see Addison called back to Seattle Grace when Mark summons her to perform surgery on a character played by Leven Rambin.
Rhimes said that the story will cross over into Practice when "complications arise and Mark ends up taking [her] back down to Los Angeles to get more surgery".
Earlier this year, Walsh told DS that the previous crossover "was really fun".
Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9pm on ABC. Private Practice follows at 10pm.
