The actor has landed a recurring role in the medical drama, Fancast says.
Sunjata is expected to play a nurse who becomes a potential love interest for Bailey (Chandra Wilson).
Sunjata played Franco in Rescue Me and has also had roles in shows including The Bronx Is Burning, Lie To Me and Law & Order.
He will make his debut in the tenth episode of the season, which is scheduled to air on December 2. Grey's Anatomy continues on Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC.
