'Grey's Anatomy' wins gay award
Grey's Anatomy has won a Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation award - despite one of its stars being criticised by the group over alleged homophobia.

In October actor Isaiah Washington was accused of using the term "faggot"about co-star TR Knight. He was told off by broadcaster ABC and GLAAD called for an apology.

However, the organisation honoured the show at the event to recognise "fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community".

It won an award for outstanding individual episode. Outstanding television comedy series went to Ugly Betty and best film to Little Miss Sunshine.

Jennifer Aniston won a special Vanguard Award for increasing the "visibility and understanding" of the gay community.
