'Grey's Anatomy' spinoff picked up by ABC

ABC has picked up Grey's Anatomy spinoff Private Practice for the 2007-08 TV season.
The show's backdoor pilot aired as part of a timeslot-winning special 2-hour Grey's Anatomy on May 3 and followed Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) taking a break from life at Seattle Grace Hospital by visiting friends who work at a medical facility in Los Angeles.
The all-star cast of Private Practice includes Taye Diggs (Kevin Hill, Day Break), Amy Brenneman (Judging Amy), Paul Adelstein (Prison Break), Tim Daly (The Sopranos, The Nine), Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars) and Merrin Dungey (Alias).
The show is expected to go out at 9pm on Wednesdays in the fall.
