Light Summary: As the full-scale riot escalates, Michael faces a difficult decision regarding the life of Dr. Sara; Abruzzi and Sucre team up to break the devil's back; T-Bag tastes blood in his quest to be included in the escape plan; Lincoln has a potentially fatal confrontation; and Veronica and Nick track a lead to Washington, DC.

Full Summary: As the prisoners smash their way into the sickbay office with only thing on their minds, Sara readies herself for the onslaught with a knife she’s made from a glass shard. When the inmates lob burning phone books inside the office to smoke her out, Sara stamps out the flames and is grabbed by the ringleader, Stroker. She stabs him and darts back into the rising smoke, as Michael appears from the crawlspace in the ceiling. He pulls her up and the two begin crawling to safety.

Meanwhile, on his way to find Michael, Lincoln is attacked by Turk, the inmate agents Hale and Kellerman hired to kill him. He manages to get out of Turk’s makeshift garotte, and fights the would-be murderer off. He staggers onwards, his neck bleeding heavily – and Turk comes at him with with a steel bar. In the tussle, Turk falls from a high ledge, and dies before Lincoln can find out who sent him.

In Michael’s cell, T-Bag has tied up Bob the guard and is rooting through his wallet. He finds Bob’s address and a photo of his teenage daughter, and begins threatening Bob and his family. Abruzzi intervenes: “I'll be very clear here, because you and I face an evolutionary gap,” he growls. “You ain’t gonna hurt this man – he’s the only leverage we have.” T-Bag insists he’s only trying to help, and Abruzzi crawls through the hole where he and Sucre demolish the wall blocking off the sewers.

The Governor arrives to ensure his daughter’s safety and tries to take charge. But Pope refuses to let the situation get further out of control, although Bellick confides in Tancredi that he feels his boss is too easy on the inmates. Meanwhile, Sara and Michael are heading for the yard, with Stroker and his gang in hot pursuit. Sara is touched that Michael rescued her, but is also suspicious – how does he know his way around so well? Michael explains he was assigned to remove toxic mould from the crawlspaces on PI. Just as it seems they are about to get close, Stroker ambushes them. They fight him off and Michael tries to push Sara into the yard, but she’s reluctant to leave him behind. “I’m one of the bad guys, remember?” he reminds her gently. Just then, she notices a sniper’s laser beam trained on his chest. She pushes him to the floor as Stroker bursts into the room – and into the line of fire. Sara rushes outside for a tearful reunion with her father, and Michael returns to his cell for his own reunion with Lincoln. But it’s not over yet: the guards are ready to storm the prison, and there are still the dual problems of Bob and T-Bag. Can they think of a way to silence T-Bag without including him in the plot? Will Bob get out alive – and will he keep quiet if he does? And as Sara learns that inmates would never be exposed to toxic mould, will she confront Michael about his lies?

Elsewhere, Veronica and Nick fly to Washington DC to trace the phone call that placed Lincoln at the murder scene. They realise that since the victim had made a breakthrough in renewable energy, the real killer could be tied to the oil industry. “Or a government with an oil-based economy,” adds Nick. “Like the United States.” It transpires the call was made from a payphone outside two large energy company offices. Suddenly the phone
rings. Veronica answers it, and a voice says “Is Lincoln Burrows really worth it? As of now, both of you are dead...”
