S02E01: 'Manhunt'
FBI Special Agent Mahone gets a breakdown on all the escapees as they run for their lives from the posse bearing down on them. They use a passing train to cut them off from the posse just as Bellick fires his shotgun at Michael. Mahone calls a press conference, and calls the prisoners the "eight most wanted men in America." Instead of running the escapees argue about everything that's gone wrong so far. C-Note lets it slip about the 5 million dollars in Utah. Now Michael can’t risk splitting up the group: if the others are caught they’ll tell the cops. Mahone tells Pope that once the escapees cross state lines, it'll be a federal hunt. Pope's sure they won't get that far. Mahone says he needs to speak with Sara, but Pope says nobody will be chatting with her for a while. Sara lies comatose in the hospital with a tube down her throat. Her dreams cause her to snap awake.

T-Bag packs his amputated hand in a stolen cooler of ice. Mahone tracks down Michael's tattoo artist, and gets a copy of his tattoo. Veronica is angry that Steadman has been living in luxury while an innocent man has been sentenced to death for his murder. He tells her he’s not the one who chose Lincoln as the fall guy. The doors of the house only open from the outside, and the windows are bulletproof; now they’re both prisoners. The escapees need money, clothes, and transportation. Michael says he has all that in storage. Abruzzi's jet was Plan A, but Michael has a Plan B. Mahone figures out that Michael’s self-designed tattoo holds clues to his escape plan. A young girl startles the escapees. She’s followed by her father, who's carrying a rifle. He recognizes the escapees. Abruzzi pulls his gun, grabs the girl, and orders the dad to toss his rifle away. The guys steal his car, and hit the road. T-Bag comes across an animal clinic, and demands that the vet re-attach his hand.

Michael instructs Lincoln to head towards Oswego, and the others complain about the change of plans. Bellick sees Michael's credit-card transactions prior to his incarceration. One of the purchases was the rental of a storage unit… in Oswego. Mahone discovers Michael’s old apartment, and starts figuring out the tattoo. Veronica decides to call for help on her cell phone, and Steadman pulls a gun on her. Bellick finds out from the hunter that the convicts went toward Oswego. They’re hot on the trail again. Veronica defies Steadman, makes the call to the sheriff, and requests that they send a car. The vet tries to convince T-Bag to get medical assistance from a doctor. T-Bag threatens him, so he agrees to try the surgery. He wants to put T-Bag under, but T-Bag insists on staying awake during the surgery. Mahone gets word that Bellick's converging on a storage unit in Oswego. The escapees enter a storage shed as Bellick and his men congregate outside Allen Self-Storage. Mahone arrives, and Bellick tells him to back off. Inside the shed the escapees gather shovels. The posse throws open the storage unit door, but it’s empty. Michael has set them up. The escapees are actually at a cemetery, where they begin digging.

Mahone figures out that "Ripe Chance Woods" is a name, not a place. He orders a check of the census records. Michael and C-Note find Michael's buried stash of clothes, phone cards, and passports. Michael distributes the clothes to the group; the passports are for him and Lincoln. Mahone finds a "Woods" on the census list, and his team heads to the cemetery. Michael has also hid a car at the cemetery, and figures the group can split up now. Just then the FBI pulls up, and the escapees dive for cover. Mahone makes his way to a grave marked "RIP E. CHANCE WOODS." C-Note wonders how Mahone knew where to look, while Sucre demands they leave, pronto. Michael watches Mahone remove a pill from inside his pen top, and take it. Mahone spots Michael, draws his weapon, and gives chase. The now civilian-clothed escapees blend in with the crowd, and they lose them. Veronica's phone rings. It's Lincoln. She tells him to turn himself in because she's found Steadman. A strange man arrives, pulls a gun, and tells Veronica to hang up. He tells Steadman to stand aside, and puts a bullet into Veronica's head. Lincoln hears the shooting and breaks down. The gunman reminds Steadman that all calls to the sheriff are routed to them because this is federal land. Sara finds an origami bird in her purse. She opens it to reveal a message from Michael: "There's a plan to make all of this right."

Mahone is informed that the escapees have vanished, but he doesn't think so. He now knows Michael had the whole plan tattooed on his body. He promises that "it's only a matter of time before we know everything that's in Scofield's head."
