Note: The light summary of this article provides only gentle teasers as to what happens in this episode, and is suitable for reading before viewing. The full summary serves as a more detailed recap of the episode.
Light Summary: Michael and Lincoln experience car trouble as Mahone's pursuit of them goes up in flames; Sucre hits the road to stop Maricruz from taking a gamble; C-Note is determined to reunite with his wife and daughter despite their surveillance; a familiar face keeps a close eye on Sara, who finds the tables turned on her; determined to cash in on the prison break, Bellick partners with an unlikely ally.
Full Summary: Mahone and a crime team gaze upon a charred vehicle in a ditch. A sheriff asks Mahone if he knows which one was in the car. We flashback… twelve hours. Mahone’s informed that his men are watching the brothers’ families and friends, and that all the medical facilities are covered. He says a man on the run is sure to make a mistake in the first seventy-two hours. Nika opens her door to Michael and a bleeding Lincoln. Michael asks her to get some items to treat Lincoln’s wound, and some clean clothes. Michael goes back for the car because it has what they need to disappear. Michael gets to the hardware store where they left the car… but it’s gone.
Michael checks his wrist tattoo with the numbers 38, 2, and 1037. Mahone gets Michael's backpack with his escape items. As he checks out a passport, he’s sure this is Michael’s “first mistake." At a liquor store Bellick sees former CO Geary. After a knock-down fight they discuss the convicts’ reward. Bellick says he going after them, and Geary offers to be his wing-man. Michael arrives at a salvage yard, looking for his car. At the same time, Mahone questions the vagrant who stole Michael's backpack. The vagrant describes the car, and says it was towed. Sucre gets on the phone with a friend, Petey, who tells him that Maricruz and Hector are getting married in two days. Sucre tells Petey to have Maricruz come to his place tonight, and wait for him. Chuck brings Michael’s car around. Michael's upset that his backpack is missing. Sara’s released from the hospital, but the police are there to arrest her. Kellerman watches. Chuck gets a call from Mahone. Without tipping his hand, Chuck tells Mahone that Michael is there now. Mahone orders him to keep Michael there, but Michael grabs his keys and drives off.
C-Note tries to explain the situation to his wife, Kacie. Mahone and Lang listen in as he tells her in one week he'll be waiting for her in the Rainbow Room, where they took a picture once. Mahone sends Lang to see Kacie. Michael changes the plates on his car, thanks Nika, and he and Lincoln drive off. Bellick manages to get into Fox River, and threatens Manche. If he doesn’t tell Mahone everything he knows, Bellick will make sure he gets a sexual predator for a cell mate. Governor Tancredi visits his daughter, and posts her bail. He tells her someone's going down for what happened at Fox River. It's in both their best interests if it isn’t her. He informs her that in one week he'll be appointed Vice-President. Michael mentions how Mahone is figuring out his tattoo. Michael makes a call to a pre-paid voicemail, which the Feds pick up. As long as Michael's phone is on, they can track it. Sucre gets pulled over for expired tags. When the cop goes back to his motorcycle to radio in, Sucre sneaks off, and escapes on a passing train.
C-Note sneaks by his daughter's school, and asks her to get a message to Mommy to turn on the porch light at seven o'clock if she still trusts him. Michael and Lincoln turn onto Route 38, the first number on his wrist tattoo. Michael stops on a bridge exactly twelve miles down: the second number on his tattoo. He and Lincoln get to work on loosening the railings. The guys prepare the car to drive off the bridge into the gully below. Michael retrieves some bloody plastic bags from the trunk to substitute for body parts. Michael switches on the radio. Once he hits scan and the radio gets to 103.7, the car will explode. He hits scan, and sends the car over the side of the bridge. As they run from the scene, Michael realises the radio isn't scanning. It will have to be done manually. The boys hear Mahone’s siren. They climb down to the car, and Lincoln says, "It's my turn." He pushes the scan button. Mahone and his team see a huge explosion. Sucre shows up at Petey’s only to be told the wedding is in Las Vegas. Sucre grabs Petey’s new motorcycle, and races to Vegas.
Sara goes to her first AA meeting, and admits she’s an addict. Kellerman is there under an assumed name, and says he’s an addict too. Back to the opening: The Feds figure that both brothers were in the car. Mahone appears to be losing it, and refers to Michael as Shales: a con he tracked once who got away. Mahone pops another pill. The brothers climb up a nearby hill. Michael figures they'll be off the radar long enough to get to Mexico. Kacie looks in on a sleeping DiDi, and we see that the lights above the girl's bed form a rainbow on the wall. Kacie looks at a picture of her family, hanging by the window. She remembers C-Note's words about the Rainbow Room, and flips on the porch light… but Lang is there to talk to her. Nika pulls up to Michael. He once again thanks her, and promises to send her thirteen thousand dollars once they make it to Mexico. The boys climb in the car, and Lincoln drives. Nika says she’ll catch a bus at the next stop. As the threesome drive off, we see Bellick and Geary watching them from their car. They knew the girl would lead them to the brothers.
