New inmate Tyge has been busy spying, which has upset Mahone a great deal. Tyge also mocks Bellick whilst he waits in a queue.
Schofield tells his visiting brother Burrows that the escape is set to go ahead at 3.13pm, but only if he sees a current photo of Sara by 2.30pm. Burrows agrees to comply and says he will find a way of spiking the guard's coffee before he goes on shift.
Mahone is visited by his former cop colleague Lang, who says she has struck a deal that will enable him to serve only eight years in a much friendlier prison if he gives the right evidence in court.
Tyge is found dead, which greatly upsets Lechero as this constitutes a bypass of his own justice system. An eyewitness tells Lechero that he saw Whistler near the scene of the crime following an argument with Tyge. However, Schofield believes Mahone to be the culprit.
While Whistler pleads for his life, Lechero tells him that he has a strong sense of justice. It emerges that he took vengeance into his own hands as a 13 year old after his mother was raped by a businessman. He wasn't punished for his crime, so Lechero killed him.
Schofield finds a bloody knife in Mahone's cell and goes to give it to Lechero. But following another visit from his old colleagues, Mahone is suddenly seen leaving Sona through the front gates having agreed to be taken into their custody. It appears that Lechero is going to stab Whistler, but he instead plunges the knife through one of his gang who has been secretly smuggling in cigars behind his back.
Sofia manages to drug the guard's coffee using her feminine wiles, although she narrowly avoids being the victim of his sexual advances. Susan calls Burrows to find out the latest, but he drops a howler by revealing the coffee has already been drugged. This alerts Susan to the fact that the breakout is taking place several hours earlier than planned. She hangs up in disgust and is about to hack LJ's head off, but Burrows calls back in time and agrees to cooperate fully.
Schofield is visited by Burrows, who decides to tell him the truth about Sara rather than use a doctored photo. Schofield is stricken by grief, which soon turns to anger. He grabs the crow's foot – which signifies mortal combat - and throws down the gauntlet to Whistler, blaming him for Sara's death.
