Hogan, who plays Colonel Saul Tigh, told SFX magazine about his reaction to the third season storyline in which his character loses an eye after the Cylons torture him during their occupation of New Caprica.
"[Showrunner David Eick] said: 'Well, we're thinking about maybe pulling an eye out of him,' [so] I said, 'You know for TV actors... your main tools are your eyes. You've taken fifty percent of my tools away!"
Hogan also explained the reasoning behind the eyeball exit: "David and [fellow showrunner] Ron Moore wanted it to be something permanent, so that for the rest of the time we shoot the series, when you look at Tigh, you remember the occupation."
