The project is a collaboration between Universal Pictures Digitial Platforms Group and Glu Mobile, with the game placing the player on board the Galactica spacecraft.
Jeremy Laws, Senior Vice President of Universal's Mobile & Broadband division, hailed the collaboration: "We are extremely pleased to introduce the Battlestar Galactica game for the mobile phone.
"On television, Battlestar Galactica is incredibly visual and full of action and we wanted to deliver that same exhilarating experience to the mobile phone gamer. We know that fans of the series will love the adventure that awaits them."
Jill Braff from Glu Mobile was also elated with the venture: "We're thrilled to have the opportunity to create a mobile game inspired by one of the most popular sci-fi franchises of all time. We worked closely with Universal to create a compelling space-shooter that lets gamers experience the excitement and atmosphere of the Battlestar Galactica universe anytime, anywhere."
The game is now available on selected mobile networks in North America, with a worldwide release date expected shortly.
