Ryan Murphy's 'Glee' heads to Fox

Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy has been given the green light to make a one-hour comedy pilot at Fox.
Glee focuses on a Spanish teacher who is tasked with reviving a failing glee club (mixed sex choir) in the American Midwest.
The network is rushing the show into production as a companion piece for its reality show American Idol.
"It made sense for the network with the biggest hit in TV, which is a musical, to do something in that vein," Murphy told Variety. "But it's not a kid show. The adult leads are equal in part to kid leads."
Murphy added that he is looking for an eclectic cast with a mixture of straight and gay characters to perform well-known hits on the comedy.
He said: "No original music is being written. It's like American Idol, a form of karaoke. People like to see people singing songs they know."
Murphy co-wrote the Glee pilot with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan.
