Cox's 'Cougar Town' premieres to 11.4m

The half-hour comedy, which aired at 9.30pm, pulled in an impressive 11.44m. Earlier on ABC, Dancing With The Stars logged 15m during the 8pm hour, then 12.74m tuned in for the series premiere of Modern Family. Rebecca Romijn-fronted Eastwick opened to 8.53m at 10pm.
Elsewhere, NBC's new medical drama Mercy debuted to 8.25m during the 8pm hour, beating Fox's So You Think You Can Dance, which took 5.6m, and America's Next Top Model, which averaged 2.84m for The CW.
CBS's 8pm hour was made up of The New Adventures Of Old Christine and Gary Unmarried, which premiered to 7.68m and 7.37m at 8pm and 8.30pm respectively.
Criminal Minds led the 9pm hour, pulling in 17.42m for CBS. Also at 9pm, Fox's Glee managed 6.62m, 8.36m watched Law & Order: SVU on NBC and The CW's The Beautiful Life managed 1.09m.
At 10pm, 14.57m tuned in for the new season premiere of CSI: NY, and The Jay Leno Show interested 6.43m for NBC.
