'Glee' character to get love interest

Glee actor Kevin McHale has hinted that his role is to be given a love interest.

The 21-year-old, who plays wheelchair-bound Artie Abrams on the Fox series, said that his girlfriend is someone already known to viewers of the show.

He told TV Guide: "My character [gets] a little love interest. It's somebody that's already introduced and we already know. The two of them hit it off because they have something in common about themselves."

The star also revealed that a forthcoming episode will explain how his character ended up in a wheelchair.

He added: "You also get a little backstory on why Artie is in a wheelchair. I think what's great about it is just because he's in a wheelchair, he can still do what everyone else does."

A group of disabled actors recently stated that they are upset over McHale's casting.
