Speaking to E! News, Murphy said that Coldplay and Bryan Adams had refused permission to use their tracks, but revealed that Lady GaGa will be covered soon.
"We're doing an episode that's a tribute to theatricality," he explained. "We reached out to Lady GaGa and she said, 'Yes, I'd love to be a part of it'. So we will be doing Lady GaGa this season."
Murphy also revealed that Madonna was helpful when he asked her permission to make an episode based on her songs.
"I've worked with Madonna before," he said. "I admire her greatly and I'm friends with her a little bit socially. I called her up and wrote her a letter and said we want to write up a tribute to you and she said yes and she co-operated in every way possible. We do ten songs altogether. Jane [Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester] is going to do 'Vogue'."
Meanwhile, Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester, revealed that he will perform with Neil Patrick Harris when the How I Met Your Mother star guests on the show.
"We have two duets," he explained. "Aerosmith and Billy Joel."
