'Glee' returns to record ratings

Glee pulled in its highest ever audience last night (Tuesday), early figures indicate.

The musical comedy returned for the second half of its freshman season with 13.63m for Fox between 9.28pm and 10.30pm. The previous episode - broadcast in December - had averaged 8.1m.

Before Glee, a 90-minute American Idol, which saw Adam Lambert mentor the top nine, delivered 20.23m.

ABC's Hurley-centric episode of Lost put in 9.45m at 9pm, roughly on par with last week's performance. It was followed by V, which had 5.88m in the 10pm hour. Earlier, the Dancing With The Stars results show, in which Aiden Turner was voted off, notched up 13.37m.

The latest episode of The Biggest Loser drew 8.28m for NBC between 8pm and 10pm, then Parenthood kept 6.36m.

CBS's repeats of NCIS, NCIS: LA and The Good Wife managed 10.82m, 10.29m and 7.9m respectively.

On The CW, 90210 took 1.47m in the 8pm hour, then the season finale of Melrose Place averaged 1.1m.
