Horror series The River made an underwhelming debut with 8.2m (2.5) in the 9pm hour, after which the audience dropped to 6.8m (2.2) for its second episode.
The Biggest Loser climbed to 6.4m (2.3) for NBC between 8pm and 10pm, then Parenthood entertained 4.6m (1.6).
