'Glee': Chord Overstreet 'finalises deal to become series regular'

Chord Overstreet will become a series regular on the upcoming season of Glee, it has been reported.

Initial reports of the 23-year-old actor's expanded role on the show emerged earlier in the month, along with news that some of the original cast would not be returning.

Overstreet joined the Fox comedy during its second season as the recurring character Sam Evans, serving as a love interest for Amber Riley's character Mercedes Jones in season three.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Overstreet has finalised negotiations with executives to join season four of the programme, joined by new series regular Jacob Artist who will play Puck's younger half-brother Jake.

Dean Geyer (Terra Nova) has also been cast as Brody, a new love interest for Rachel (Lea Michele).

Storylines on the upcoming season of Glee will be divided between New York and Ohio settings, with some cast members taking reduced roles on the show.

The new season of Glee premieres with 'The New Rachel' on September 13 at 9pm EST on Fox in the US.

The show airs on Sky1 and Sky1 HD in the UK.
