'Glee' exec on Kurt, Blaine issues: 'New things will excite them'

By
Glee executive Brad Falchuk has teased Kurt and Blaine's relationship issues in season four, revealing that Chris Colfer's character will find "new things that excite him".

The Fox show's co-creator explained that Blaine (Darren Criss) will struggle with life at McKinley High after pushing Kurt into moving to New York in the season premiere.

"Kurt finds new things that excite him," Falchuk told TVLine. "The minutiae of high school life is not quite as compelling to him, and that's hard for Blaine.

"He can't lean on Kurt the way he would have the year before. And I think it's also strange for Blaine to be in this school that he came to really only for Kurt.

"He didn't come because he wanted to go into public high school. So now he has to find his place [at McKinley] not as Kurt's boyfriend."

Falchuk previously said that the Glee couples stuck in a long distance relationship in season four will face "a pretty tough challenge".

Showrunner Ryan Murphy, meanwhile, named Kurt and Blaine as one of the pairings that might separate in coming episodes.

Glee returns to Fox on September 13.
