'Glee' new season format "has worked very well", says Fox boss

By
Fox head Kevin Reilly has praised the current fourth season of Glee.

The network's Chairman of Entertainment claimed at this year's TCA press tour that the hit musical drama's new format - which divides time between characters at McKinley High and those now living in New York - has "worked very well".

"That's a high-risk thing - to essentially introduce another show within the show and define Glee in a more broad way, and I think it's worked really well," Collider reports Reilly as saying.

"Cutting back and forth has been seamless, and both worlds having been pretty dynamic. For the most part, I think we've heard a lot of good reaction from the fans."

However, Reilly expressed regret at not being able to "programme [the series] more consistently" - with the new season airing just four episodes before it was placed on a month's hiatus between October 4 and November 8.

"That's a pretty tough way to keep an audience engaged," Reilly conceded. "With that said, creatively, we've heard pretty positive things."

Glee returns to Fox on January 24 with new episode 'Sadie Hawkins', while season four continues on Sky1 in the UK on Sundays at 8pm.
