Former child star Jaleel White will appear in the eighth season premiere of House.

White, best known for playing Urkel on '90s sitcom Family Matters, will play a prison inmate, according to TV Line.

The premiere will take place a year after the events of the season seven finale and will see House (Hugh Laurie) in jail for his attack on Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein).

Since Family Matters ended in 1998, White has appeared on Psych and Boston Legal, and in 2006 film Dreamgirls.

The Lincoln Lawyer star Michael Paré will also play a prison warden in the House season premiere, titled '20 Vicodin'.

The medical drama will introduce two new series regulars in future episodes, played by Breaking In's Odette Annable and Knocked Up's Charlyne Yi.

Annable recently admitted that it had felt "intimidating" joining the cast of House, while showrunner David Shore insisted that Yi is "perfect" for her role as a new junior doctor.

House will return to Fox on Monday, October 3 at 9/8c.
