Laurie, Mirren lead the Brits at the Globes

Mirren picked up the award for Best Performance for an Actress for her role in The Queen, beating Kate Winslet and Maggie Gyllenhaal to pick up the prize.
Ex-Blackadder star Hugh Laurie also made an impression on the US award ceremony. He won the Best Actor award in the television category for his role as the misanthropic doctor in House - his second in two years.
Other British winners included Sacha Baron Cohen, who scooped the Best Comedy Performance award for his creation Borat, and Bill Nighy for his role in the BBC production of Gideon's Daughter.
