The comics have been produced by IDW and the show's network HBO and were launched in the US today.
Two exclusive covers are available at the Comic-Con event in San Diego, but fans can buy the comics from retailers across North America.
The comics follow the show's characters as they shelter from a storm in Merlotte's. They soon discover that they have been trapped by a supernatural creature.
True Blood's executive producer Alan Ball, who helped to develop the plot, said: "I am very excited to be introducing the True Blood comic book series. These graphic novels are a great companion to the series and we are pleased that the popularity of the show is allowing it to branch out into different mediums."
The comic book series will feature Sookie, Bill, Tara, Eric, Sam, Jason, Jessica and Lafayette and so far six issues have been planned.
