The cast of True Blood have revealed details of the upcoming season finale.

Joe Manganiello, who plays Alcide, told E! Online that the episode will involve "a lot of blood" and "a lot of sex".

He added: "And a lot of people are going to die."

Meanwhile, Marshall Allman suggested that the season finale is "shocking on every front" and said: "I think they did an excellent job of the cliffhanger this year for my character [Tommy], for Anna [Paquin's] character [Sookie], and for Alex [Skarsgård's] character [Eric] too."

Nelsan Ellis, who plays Lafayette, also revealed that he is pleased with the episode, saying: "I am happy with the way [the finale] sets up for next season. I think [the fans] will be pleased at what they find out about Lafayette. There is something to be found out in the finale about LaLa."

Skarsgård added: "There's a lot of things to be solved and a lot of conflicts, I guess. And some of them will be solved in the last episode and some won't."

Elsewhere, Sam Trammell, who plays Sam, explained that somebody will be in "big trouble" and in "danger", adding: "There's going to be some cliffhangers. It's going to be awesome."

The season finale of True Blood will air on September 13 on HBO.
