The star, who plays medium Lafayette Reynolds on the HBO series, revealed that the fourth season finale will feature a number of tantalizing cliffhangers that will leave fans wanting more.
"The finale turns Bon Temps upside down," Ellis told the Los Angeles Times. "Lafayette and Jesus are directly in the middle of it, and it doesn't end well."
He continued: "No finale in the history of True Blood has been worse than this one in terms of the cliffhangers. People are going to be [upset] because they're going to have to wait like seven months before they figure out what materializes after this finale."
Ellis went on to admit that he was initially disappointed by Lafayette's "gift", saying that he wished his character could have a more interesting ability.
"Honestly, I was like, 'Why can't I get a cool gift?'" Ellis said when asked about his first impression of Lafayette's newly-discovered powers. "But for an actor it's pretty good being a medium because you can portray other people. Alan Ball, he's good at challenging his actors, I'll say that."
In July, Ellis revealed that Lafayette is inspired by his mother, saying that he drew on her mannerisms to create the character.
Kevin Alejandro, who plays Jesus on the HBO series, recently praised Ellis, insisting that his co-star has taught him a lot about acting.
The fourth season finale of True Blood airs tonight at 9pm on HBO.
