CW renews 'Supernatural', 'Smallville', more

The CW has given early pickups to six series for the upcoming 2009-10 season.

The news guarantees a third season of teen drama Gossip Girl, a seventh season of One Tree Hill and a fifth season of cult drama Supernatural.

90210, a remake of Beverly Hills, 90210, will be back for a second season.

Tyra Banks reality competition America's Next Top Model will return for its 13th and 14th cycles next season.

Finally, sci-fi drama Smallville will live on to a landmark ninth season.

"As we continue to build The CW Network as a destination for young women, these six shows have clearly contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity," said Dawn Ostroff, entertainment president at The CW.

"By securing these signature hits for next season, we’re furthering our commitment to deliver high-quality, original programming to our viewers, advertisers and affiliates."
