The actor was previously dropped as a series regular and later admitted that his future with the show is uncertain.
He told TV Line: "How much I'll be on Supernatural [next season] is a secret. And I actually don't know. That makes it easier to not tell you."
Collins also revealed that his character Castiel will be "drunk with power" following his transformation into a god in the show's sixth season finale.
"He's trying to do what he thinks a god should be doing on Earth and in Heaven, which is fairly righteous and wrathful," he explained. "I think he's making, in many respects, the world a better place. But there's a fair amount of smiting going on too. You take the good with the bad."
Supernatural showrunner Sera Gamble previously claimed that she is not worried about a "fan backlash" following Collins's demotion.
Supernatural will return to Fridays at 9/8c on The CW from September 23.
