'Supernatural' preview clip: Sam, Dean reunite in season 8 premiere

A new clip from the eighth season of Supernatural has been released.

The footage from season premiere 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' sees Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) reuniting after the latter returns from a year spent in purgatory.



Dean tells Sam that although he escaped from Purgatory, Castiel (Misha Collins) didn't make it out, ambiguously stating that "something happened to him down there".

Collins recently told Digital Spy that the season will feature flashbacks of Castiel in Purgatory, and that the previously-unhinged angel will "get his marbles back".

Former Stargate actress Amanda Tapping has been cast in a major recurring role in the new season.

The eighth season of Supernatural will premiere on The CW on October 3.
