Light Summary: While battling a demon, Dean is electrocuted, resulting in permanent damage to his heart and leaving him with only a couple of months to live. A despondent Sam searches desperately for a way to save his brother and believes he may have found an answer through a preacher who claims to heal the incurable. However, Dean and Sam discover that the preacher is getting help from the Grim Reaper who is trading one life for another he feels is less worthy.
Full Summary: Burkitsville, Indianna, one year ago: While two young lovers, Holly and Dean, are on their journey home, their car grinds to a halt along with their mobile phones. Out in the open, they both make their way to the house in the distance passing a strange-looking scarecrow in the process…
Sam and Dean receive another phone call from their father – he's on the hunt for the thing that killed their mother and he's finally established what it actually was… Will Sam follow his father's request?
Back on the road, the brothers follow their father's orders and head to Indiana. A rebellious Sam takes it upon himself to tell Dean what he really thinks and a confrontation ensues… Will Sam and Dean go their separate ways?
Meanwhile, Dean follows his father's request and continues to look for the 'missing couple' and it isn't long before he stumbles across the exact same area where they were killed.
Elsewhere, on his way to find his father in California, Sam bumps into Meg, a hitch-hiker. The pair seem to hit it off from the start.
Dean is hot on the heels of the next potential victims of the scarecrow – that is until the police arrive…
The latest couple soon run into the scarecrow…
Dean knows what he's messing with but will he turn back to his brother for the help that he desperately needs? Will the siblings reconcile their differences? Or will they continue on their separate ways?
Dean continues to investigate into what is controlling the scarecrow. A trip to a professor gives him the answers he needs but as he leaves, all is not what it's cracked up to be and the villagers gather to discuss their problem – they have no other option…
Will Dean complete his mission to free the town from the scarecrow? Will Sam continue on his treck to find his father? More importantly, will Sam and Dean see things through with each other or will the pair go their separate ways for good?
