Light Summary: Sam and Dean investigate a small town in Wisconsin where children are falling into comas for no apparent reason. The brothers discover that a witch is creeping into the bedrooms of the children and stealing their 'life force'. While battling the witch, Dean recalls a past mistake that almost cost Sam his life at the hands of the very same witch, an event which has fueled Dean’s protectiveness over Sam and his blind obedience to his father.
Full Summary: Fitchburg, Wisconsin: A mysterious creature makes its way into a child's bedroom while she sleeps putting her into a coma in the process.
Meanwhile, Sam and Dean head out to Fitchburg after being sent co-ordinates by their father. Sam, however, can't find anything in the local records to make them believe there's anything strange going on up in the town.
When they arrive, there's something wrong with the picture they see. The playground is empty and, apparently, all the children are becoming ill.
In the hospital, the doctor looking after the six cases explains to Sam and Dean that it's more serious than they originally thought. Their white cell count keeps fluctuating while, at the same time, they're not responding to antibiotics – and none of the children are conscious.
After speaking with the father of the latest victim, Sam and Dean make their way to the scene of the most recent incident. They find that the wooden window ledge is rotting in the shape of a strangely-shaped hand print. What on earth it left it?
This incident brings back memories for Dean – something like this happened to the Winchester family when they were younger… Dean realises why their father sent them here.
Sam does some digging into the history of the creature that's been sucking the children's' 'life force' from them. Sam details that they're immune to all types of weapon, but Dean knows better – he should know.
Back at the hotel, the creature takes its next victim and Dean can only see himself in the brother of the latest victim – it's exactly how he was when he was younger.
Elsewhere, in the library, Sam stumbles across an old photograph from the 1800s which gives the brothers a lead and something to work on – they've finally found out who the creature is disguising itself as.
Dean blames himself for the whole sorry scenario. He finally reveals to his brother what happened all those years ago… It's this event which has fueled Dean’s protectiveness over Sam and his blind obedience to his father.
They need the help of young Michael, the elder brother of the latest victim. Will he agree to help his younger brother in his time of need?
As they set the trap for the creature, Michael waits patiently in his bed while Sam and Dean watch vigilantly in the next room. They see the monster coming into the window – it's time for action. Dean can finally finish the job he should have executed all those years ago.
