'Vampire Diaries' death draws 4.2 million

The latest instalment of the teen drama, in which a major character was killed off, drew 4.19m - the show's best performance since its premiere last month.
After Diaries, the audience dropped to 2.88m for the 9pm Supernatural.
Over on ABC, FlashForward hit a new series low of 8.96m at 8pm, then 13.42m tuned in for Grey's Anatomy at 9pm. Private Practice followed at 10pm, bringing in 12.21m.
Survivor and CSI attracted 12.49m and 14.94m to CBS at 8pm and 9pm respectively. The 10pm Mentalist then took 14.92m.
NBC's Community and Parks And Recreation managed 5.48m and 4.96m during the 8pm hour, then 8.14m watched The Office at 9pm. 30 Rock followed at 9.30pm, pulling in 6.01m, and The Jay Leno Show was seen by 4.38m at 10pm.
Fox's coverage of the World Series Game 2 average 19.15m, easily winning primetime for the second night running.
