'Vampire Diaries', 'Supernatural', '90210' renewed by The CW

The CW has renewed three of its current series for the 2012-13 TV season.

The network announced today (May 3) that Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and 90210 have received early pickups.



Vampire Diaries will return for its fourth season, while Supernatural is due to kick off its eighth season. Meanwhile, 90210 will see its fifth run.

The CW has yet to make a decision about a number of other series, including Nikita, The Secret Circle and Gossip Girl.



Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec tweeted earlier today that she was not sure why the show hadn't yet been picked up.

"But we're not worried," she clarified.

A new episode of Vampire Diaries airs tonight at 8pm on The CW.
