The Save the Last Dance star joined the fifth run of the Showtime drama as the emotionally damaged Lumen Pierce, but departed in the season finale.
Discussing a possible return, Stiles told TVLine: "I don't think anyone knows. The [writers] don't start discussing story ideas until February, so I have no clue."
However, she added: "I would absolutely be interested [in returning]. I loved being on the show."
Her co-star Desmond Harrington (Joey Quinn) also praised the Lumen storyline, calling it a "natural exhale" for the show.
"Dexter has a blank slate now and is maybe even a little darker," he explained. "He's been hurt now twice and that last shot of the candle going out [symbolised that] he can go anywhere at this point."
The fifth season of Dexter concluded on December 12. A sixth run of twelve episodes has already been commissioned.
