The Mean Girls star has featured in four episodes of the US show this past season as Betty’s (America Ferrera) high school nemesis Kimmie Keegan.
Williams, who plays Wilhelmina Slater on the series, said that the 23-year-old was not used to the fast-paced television production schedule and believes that the experience taught her a lesson in work ethics, Contactmusic reports.
She said: "It takes 10 days to do one episode of Ugly Betty and we work grueling, grueling hours because we've got a lot of production, which you can tell.
"You watch for an hour and you see the production on stage, you see how intricate our episodes are."
Williams added: "You know, we don't have the luxury that the film world has, or the time. She (Lohan) was on for three, I guess three episodes or so, and she got a taste of what it's like to be on our set."
Lohan recently signed up for fantasy-comedy film The Other Side, which begins production in October.
