Mabius: 'Betty and Daniel shouldn't marry'

Ugly Betty star Eric Mabius has claimed that Daniel and Betty should not become a couple.

The 38-year-old, who plays the titular character's boss at Mode magazine, said that having the pair marry would speed up the show's end.

He told TV Guide: "People feel attached to the bond between Daniel and Betty because it's complex… It's always fluctuating - even though it's some form of Betty saving Daniel's ass.

"I think having them get married would really speed up the inevitable end."

Mabius suggested that the pairing, which has happened on versions of the show in other countries, would be "like bad chocolate" if it were ever to happen in the US.

He added: "I think they will eventually come together, but not in a romantic way. It's kind of like Joanie and Chachi. You think you want to them to get together, but after that's achieved, it's like bad chocolate. You're left feeling a bit dissatisfied."

Co-star Ana Ortiz (Hilda Suarez) previously revealed that Betty will have her signature braces taken off in the forthcoming season.

ABC recently pushed the fourth season premiere of Ugly Betty back one week. It will now return on Friday, October 16.
