Poor showing for 'Ugly Betty' premiere

The two-hour season four premiere logged an average of 5.09m between 8pm and 10pm, leaving ABC in fourth place for the period. The audience is a significant decline on the 9.77m who tuned in for the third season premiere on September 25, 2008.
With Dollhouse on hiatus, Fox had a strong Friday night showing, averaging 7.54m between 8pm and 11pm with coverage of the MLB playoff game between the Angels and the Yankees.
CBS was fairly solid throughout primetime, drawing 8.21m for Ghost Whisperer at 8pm, then 8.04m for Medium and 7.77m for Numb3rs.
NBC's Law & Order took 7.6m at 8pm, then a Dan Brown interview, Secrets of the Lost Symbol, put in 5.69m. At 10pm, The Jay Leno Show registered a new audience low of 4.97m.
Post-Betty, ABC's 20/20 interested 6.97m.
Smallville grew 300k week-on-week to 2.62m for The CW in the 8pm hour, then a rerun of America's Next Top Model brought in 1.33m.
