James Van Der Beek is to star in the second series of Ugly Betty.

The Dawson's Creek actor is to play a fashion house owner who has issues with Mode's transsexual co-editor Alexis Meade.

A show insider told E! Online: "James Van Der Beek is playing the owner of Atlantic Attire. Apparently, he's scheduled to do business with Mode, but he has problems with Alexis being a transsexual."

Six Feet Under star Freddy Rodriguez and designer Kenneth Cole have also been lined up for guest spots on the hit show, while Victoria Beckham will wear a fat suit for her cameo appearance.
