'Race' duo reflect on 'infamous' challenge

CBS

Amazing Race competitors Gary and Matt Tomljenovich have reflected on their experience tackling the hay bale challenge.

The father and son duo, who were eliminated from the competition this week, were faced with the roadblock during their leg in Amsterdam.

Phil Keoghan branded it one of the "most infamous and daunting" tasks in Amazing Race history.

Speaking to DS, Gary said: "It was exactly how he described it! It was tough! We still had hope when we turned up because all the teams were there and at that point, if we rolled out one bale we could be in second place.

"You have a ton of encouragement and then all of a sudden Brian finds his flag and Meghan finds hers, and she was struggling at that point. Then Sam found his but those guys were really great, they didn't rub it in - they just took it and left. I knew I had to keep going and eventually there would be another flag."

Gary added that any team could win the show at this point and praised them for being "strong competitors".
