Nick Cannon: 'Howard Stern brings so much energy to AGT'

By
Nick Cannon has credited Howard Stern with bringing a new "energy" to America's Got Talent.

The host explained that Stern adds to a much more calm working environment than during Piers Morgan's many seasons as a judge on America's Got Talent.

"It's a lot more fun. The rapport with everyone is really laid-back. Piers made it messed up, but Howard brings such a fun energy," Cannon told USA Today. "He's so entertaining; he does his own thing and takes over. But he's really taking the job seriously because he really wants to find a million-dollar act."

America's Got Talent judge Howie Mandel echoed Cannon's sentiments by saying that he gets on much better with Stern.

"I don't know that Piers had any personal tolerance for my tastes. He wouldn't engage me in conversation unless he was telling me I'm an idiot," Mandel commented.

"More than any other year, it feels like three friends sitting on this panel. We're surprising each other, [and] the show has a fresh electricity."

Stern said last week that his goal for this season of America's Got Talent is for the contestants to outshine the judges.

America's Got Talent airs tonight (May 14) at 8/7c on NBC.
