Stern's controversial remarks were made while he was complaining about San Francisco-based dance group LionDanceMe's performance in the quarter-finals.
"On Guam, they don't have many exciting acts, but here in America, they want different, they want new, they want unique," Stern told the contestants.
Guam's Governor Eddie Calvo has taken exception to Stern's remarks and insisted that the country has a thriving entertainment business.
"Whether it's in sports, in dancing or its other types of arts, with that I take it with a grain of salt. It's like you almost feel sorry for a person that ignorant, and you just keep on continuing to shine as we've always done," Calvo said in a statement, reports KUAM News.

Stern has also been invited by the Guam Visitors Bureau to see Guam's arts and culture on a visit to the country.
