The 22-year-old, who was eliminated from The CW show on Wednesday night, told DS that she was stunned when the stampede occurred in March.
"I'd already been on my feet for 12 hours straight and when it broke out it was so random and unexpected," she explained.
"Everybody was saying different things about what was going on - a bomb in a car, a gun - so everybody around me was freaking out and hyperventilating."
She added: "I'm usually a very calm person so I was standing there calming other girls down but it was still scary! It sucked even more because I didn't get seen, I didn't even get through the door."
Howard was later invited to audition for the programme after being spotted by creator Tyra Banks during a taping of her chatshow.
