Big Brother USA: HoH competition, nominations announced - Live blog

Big Brother USA 2012 - Live Blog
After Britney's blindside elimination on Thursday night, it seems as though anything can happen in the Big Brother house. And indeed, it can. While Frank has managed to escape the block over the past several weeks, he was unable to participate in this week's Head of Household competition both this week and next. Does that mean it might be the end of the road for him?

Find out who will become the most powerful player in the house this week - as well as who will be on the chopping block - by joining Digital Spy live from 8/7c!

20:57Find out who will win the Power of Veto and catch up on the latest action in the house by joining us again on Wednesday (September 5) at 8/7c!

20:57Yep, Frank and Jenn are up. Ian says that he respects Frank as a player but views him as a huge threat. He also thinks Jenn has a great social game and also poses a threat.

Frank isn't too surprised or bothered about going up on the block, insisting that it's just "another day at the office" for him since he's used to being on the block. Jenn's also not surprised and thinks she'll be fine and can make another big move this week. Dan can't believe his luck, saying it's "too good to be true" that the alliance he previously stabbed in the back is back together. You can say that again, Dan.

20:54Well, it's time for the nominations ceremony, and I think we all know how this is going to go.

20:46Out in the garden later that day, Frank and Dan talk about going up on the block. Frank reflects on having been up pretty much every single week, while Dan knows that he has to pretend he's still on Frank's side, even though he's about to stab him in the back. Soon after, Dan goes upstairs to touch base with Ian to make sure the plan is still on to target Frank and Jenn. He questions which of the two to get rid of, and Dan says it's his choice.

20:43Upstairs, Ian gets some great presents - stuff for the pool, a telescope, a volcano kit, truffles, dinosaur toys... it just keeps going and going. Downstairs, meanwhile, Jessie is pouring the house's chocolate milk down the drain and steals all of their sweets, which they're none too happy about. Ian's final gift upstairs is $1,000. He's definitely had a good Christmas.

20:42Frank finally gets to take his carrot costume off - hurrah! Meanwhile, Ian is faced with Pandora's Box up in the HoH room. Here's his decision - to enter a room with Christmas trees that are stocked with presents beneath. If he chooses to go for it, something good or bad will be unleashed on the house. He decides to go for it even though it may not contain anything good.

Frank heads into the room, which is fully decked out with Christmas decorations and a fire on a TV screen under a fake fireplace. I love it. As soon as he accepts it, former Big Brother player Jessie heads into the house with arms full of presents. The presents include chickpeas, oatmeal and other "health foods". He also takes away some of their junk food.

20:34Frank goes up to speak to Ian to "see where [his] head is at" and hopes he can convince him not to nominate him. Frank proposes that they join back up again to go to the final three together and insists that he hasn't closed any doors in the game. Ian listens, but you can tell he's not really feeling it.

20:32In the middle of the night, Joe is woken up to do some hula hooping, and we're treated to a nice little montage of him attempting to do it at all times of day and everywhere in the house. Joy.

20:32Later that night, it's time for a meeting of the remaining Quack Pack members. Dan, Danielle and Shane head upstairs to discuss the plan going forward. Ian reveals that Frank and Jenn are going up on the block. Dan's not that happy about having to break his vows (considering he swore on his wife), but he's doing what he has to do to stay in the game.

20:30It's time to see Ian's Head of Household room, where everyone has to pretend to be interested. He's got a gem that he made earlier in the year, much to his excitement and the others' confusion. Frank wishes he could be happy for Ian but he can't, considering all that's happened.

20:28Jenn and Danielle are having some girl talk about Shane. Danielle thinks nothing else is going to happen and wants to kiss him some more, but Jenn piques her attention by telling her that Shane referred to her as his girlfriend the other day. Uh, did that actually happen? Because it's BS, even if it did.

20:27Danielle is pretty touched that Shane made a deal with Ian to keep her safe, describing him as her "knight in shining armour". Wake up and smell the coffee, Danielle - he doesn't care about you, you're just a good ally. Meanwhile, Joe tells Frank not to be too worried as Ian may nominate Dan and Jenn, though Frank's not willing to go upstairs and throw Dan under the bus due to their newfound alliance.

20:21Frank knows it's the "worst case scenario" for him as Ian will most likely put him on the block. Meanwhile, Dan has plans to reunite with the Quack Pack because he likes them better.

20:21This competition seems to be going on and on, and Shane is starting to struggle. He's got tons of muscle aches and his repeated collisions with the comets don't treat him too well, and after ensuring that himself and Danielle are safe, he jumps off, giving Ian the Head of Household win.

20:17Back in the Head of Household competition, Danielle goes out next when she starts to feel like she's going to throw up. After a pretty impressive 42 minutes, Dan goes out, as well. I call it "impressive" because I would have been out after about 30 seconds. Looks like it's down to Ian and Shane.

20:11A giant comet is thrown into the competition and housemates are banging into it full force as they swing by. It gets the best of Jenn, who falls off pretty quickly after. While they continue to spin - let's flashback to five hours before the eviction on Thursday. Dan and Ian are having a private conversation and Ian suggets that they reunite the Quack Pack, which Dan is into - he just has to smooth things over with Shane, who also seems into it, all said and done. Dan is happy that he could be at the centre of two different alliances as it'd be a great position to be in. What a terrible idea, Ian.

20:07Anyway, back to this competition. Joe goes to pick his prize, falling off after a really ridiculous two minutes on the rope. Is it good or is it bad? It's a punishment - he has to endure 24 hours of hula hoop bootcamp. Every time he hears a certain song being played - day or night - he has to hula hoop until it stops. That sounds like... fun.

20:06Ian doesn't feel safe since Britney's gone and knows that she paid the price for a lot of the stuff he did in the house, which "hurts" and makes him feel pretty bad. Dan, meanwhile, calls her leaving "bittersweet", saying that she was a great ally in the house but he had to do what he had to in order to try to get to the end. Frank, of course, accomplished what he set out to do - since he couldn't nominate Ian, he got out his closest ally.

20:05Right, so where did we leave off - the housemates are swinging from ropes in this week's Head of Household competition and of course, Joe is the first to go down. There's some fake tan being sprayed, it's hot (hence the giant sun in the centre) and there are some high stakes in this one, so no-one is willing to give up.
