Sci Fi picks up third 'Doctor Who' in US
Sci Fi Channel in the US has picked up the rights to the third season of Doctor Who and the recent Christmas special.

The new run - currently airing on BBC One - features Freema Agyeman as the Doctor's new assistant, Martha Jones. Episodes will air on the channel, beginning with The Runaway Bride, from July.

"Doctor Who has become a favourite among Sci Fi audiences," said Chris Regina, vp of programming at Sci Fi. "We are happy to bring the show back for its third season and look forward to following the Doctor's continuing adventures with his new companion."

Season two averaged more than 1 million viewers for Sci Fi last year.
