Alison arrives to deliver the first challenge of the episode. She says that they might be the fittest group they've ever had on the ranch and they can put their knowledge to use on 'Final Exams Week'. They will have to spin with Bob, motivate with Jillian, box with Cara, and complete a health and wellness test with Brett. The overall winner will scoop $10,000.
The contestants have to teach Bob (the "Lord of spinning", according to Austin) how to use a spin bike, guiding him through the set-up and the exercise as if they are a spin teacher and he is a novice. Irene is first up but fails to wow, dissolving into giggles at one point and not really pointing out how to spin. (72 points). Jay, however, fares worse, when he advises Bob to take the seat off to show his creativity, but the trainer points out the safety worries for a newcomer (58). Olivia (100), Hannah (100) and Austin (95) all impress with their instructor qualities and simple explanation of the exercise.
Brett, who dons glasses and writes Professor Hoebel on the blackboard, tells the contestants that he was pre-med and his dad has been a Princeton professor of neurological science for 40 years. He quizzes the contestants about different exercises and nutrients, with their final scores being: Hannah (77), Irene (80), Jay (88), Olivia (83) and Austin (82).
After squaring up to Cara in the boxing ring, the scores are: Irene (70), Olivia (100), Hannah (92), Jay (95) and Austin (95).
Jillian says that she's been motivating contestants for 11 seasons and because it's the last season, it feels right for the roles to be reversed and for the contestants to try to motivate her. Hannah gets the most marks (90) for offering the most solutions to Jillian's fictional problems. The trainer is also impressed that Jay (90) has been listening to her advice over the season. Irene gets 85 points because she hasn't forced Jillian to emotionally connect, while Olivia gets 89 points for not challenging Jillian but still remaining positive, and Austin gets 85 for not giving enough advice on how to make positive changes and believe in yourself.
The Final Exam
The final exam results mean Jay is in fifth place, followed by Irene, Austin and Hannah, meaning Olivia is the $10,000 winner (although only three points separated her and Hannah).
The contestants each have 100 sandbags and have to use them to ascend a stack of giant steps. The winner will get a 1lb advantage at weigh-in. In the end, it's Austin who triumphs, and thinks the extra 1lb means he'll definitely get through the weigh-in. Next up is a quick visit to Subway with Brett where the contestants have to guess the number of calories in a chicken teriyaki sandwich. Hannah guess 380 calories which is the exact answer. She wins a $500 Subway gift card.
After a tough last chance work-out, it's time for the weigh-in - but there's a big decision in store for Olivia and Austin. Alison tells Olivia that she can exchange her $10,000 win for a 1lb advantage, while Austin can do the opposite. Austin decides not to trade his advantage for the cash, but admits that he'll be devastated if he goes home anyway, while Olivia also decides to keep her $10,000.
Irene: -5lbs (total loss: 108lbs)
Jay: -9lbs (total loss: 154lbs)
Olivia: -5lbs (total loss: 108lbs)
Austin: -1lb (total loss: 161lbs)
Austin (even with his 1lb advantage) and Hannah fall below the yellow line. Austin becomes tearful saying that the result doesn't make sense to him, but adds that he can't be upset with a total 161lbs loss.
In the elimination chamber, Olivia opens the votes by saying that she would never send her sister home. Jay says that Hannah is the reason he was able to return to the show so he can't vote for her, and adds that Austin has youth and strength on his side. Two votes are enough to send Austin home.
"It is incredible to realise I've lost 161lbs," he says. "My journey started with the recognition that I ain't a man and I have to get there somehow. Not that I'm all done growing up or finished and everything is good, but I have come so far. America, the next time you see me, you'll see a man living my life, not a boy living Austin's life."
In a post-exit video, we see that Austin now weighs 230lbs and has taken up fighting. He has also been giving motivation speeches, including one to a fifth grade class (which is when he noticed his biggest weight gain). He's also started singing his music in public.
